
Latest on Proposed Rate Increase
On Thursday, July 22 a new workshop was scheduled to update the Board on the "tweaking" of the rate proposals. Only one of the rate consultants was present and the "tweaking" consists of reducing the proposed 9% rate increase to 7%. We were told that this was done in response to comments at the Public Hearings.
For those who attended the Public Hearings, you will recall that the issues raised by those who spoke focused on the need for specific details to justify a rate increase at this time. No one asked for the increase to be reduced. There were complaints about the System Improvement Fee (now relabeled Water Supply Fee) being too high and commercial rates being lower than residential rates.
